About

Ruinous Guitars was developed around an obsession, and it would be a lie to say most nights dont keep me awake dreaming of the next guitar. With this obsession the goal was simple, convey raw power while keeping the design details centered around a technical look.

Much like a performance vehicle I wanted every curve, every component, every decision to have a benefit to the user, while maintaining a sculptural and striking form. This takes away the “novelty” aspect of my new age forms and keeps it focused on being a technical tool, not wall art.

Many experimental models were built in my prototyping lab before I found the careful balance between aggressive appearance, sculptural elegance, and peek functionality. I decided early on that the public would never see a Ruinous guitar that hasn't been run through rounds of iterations and adjustments. This is why my gallery hosts Proto Lab experiments that will never reach the market, but are still pretty damn fun to look at.

My team is small, consisting of a lead luthier, a professional painter, and a line of CNC machining robots to carefully construct all of our custom components. I source all of the fabrication locally in Chicago. It is through this close connection to the fabrication that I ensure careful quality control standards.

I didn't start this company to build an empire, and mass produce my models; I started it to bring change to a guitar market over-saturated with the same shape, the same design, and corners cut to save money. I still pay tribute to the guitar builders that have helped establish the standards that we live by, but think it's time for them to make room for a new type of instrument. A modern instrument with a technical look and a dangerous feel. A ruinous guitar
